This site was originally intended to showcase my art. Somehow it sort of turned into my life story. Caveat surfor.

If I left you out, keep checking back. You never know what or who will show up. I offer no apologies for the text or the weak humor. If you are offended, you are probably one of those people trying to hack through my junk mail filters right now.

advertising and literature design from concept to print:

Beyond Ellis Island was a three-month project. It arrived at FewSpot as a 200-page Word document and several brown folders full of old photographs.

I submitted a sample layout with choice of typefaces, and then laid out the book in Quark Xpress. Some of the photographs were retouched in Photoshop.

I laid the Makris heirlooms on plain brown paper and imaged them with a Nikon CoolPix 2100. Some light /shadow and text effects were accomplished in Photoshop. I wrote the copy that appears on both inside flaps.

The final volume is 306 pages, linen bound with gold foil stamping. The books arrived, ready to sell, on October 7, 2005. The second edition is already underway.

During 2003-2004 I was fortunate to help Partrade Trading Corporation with a series of ads that appeared in major equine publications (Horse Illustrated, Western Horseman, Horse & Rider, Tack ‘n’ Togs, etc.). I shot some of the product and composed all the ads in Photoshop. I also wrote the copy for all the ads.

As copy editor for business author Robert Shook, I added clarity and readability to published and non-published works, such as Longaberger: An American Success Story, a Top 10 Best Seller in The New York Times. Others include: Headhunters Confidential/125 Insider Secrets to Landing Your Dream Job; It Takes a Prophet to Make a Profit: 15 Trends That Are Reshaping American Business; Saving The World Entire & 100 Other Beloved Parables from the Talmud.
