I was pretty chatty (probably from the anesthesia) after I arrived at the hotel.  Had lots of calls from well-wishers.  I was really excited to see my tummy and show it to my family, so I removed the binder.  Wo!  Got really nauseated when my guts moved and had to put it back on quickly, but my stomach looks awesome - flat as a board.

My first night, I had trouble urinating despite a strong urge.  Was able to go a little at around 8 p.m., but this continued from about midnight to 6 a.m.  Also had nausea everytime I sat up, which further discouraged me from attempting to go to the bathroom.  Once I was able to void, I could rest better.  The nausea subsided.  I was still numb from the anesthesia until late the next afternoon.  The binder was also really tight, and I had to loosen it a couple times just to get some relief.  I had some trapped gas that was making me uncomfortable, may have also been contributing to the nausea.  I think we figured that I was producing about 25 cc's an hour the first night from my drains, which slowed to 25 cc's every 6 hours, then every 12 hours, then daily.  Mom will have to verify.

Was up and walking around the next day.  Had pancakes for breakfast, although couldn't each much.  Went in for follow up exam.  Then my mom and I went to El Porton for lunch.  I had soup.  By the time we left, I was pretty tired.  Started back taking my Wellbutrin.  Went back to the hotel and slept.  Upon waking, took my first shower and then left to run some errands (check email, go to the video store, grab something to eat).  Went back to the hotel to watch a movie, although I rolled over and went to sleep during the last 45 min or so.  My pain pills kick in really good about an hour after I take them, and I get pretty sleepy.  Slept better second night and for longer durations.  All in all, a pretty busy day.

Next day, got up and packed our things to check out of hotel.  Was home by 11:30 a.m. and caught up on missed time with my son.  Today the drains started to really bother me.  We taped them up with band-aids so that there was less pull, but I think the left one was clogged.  We tried to get the line moving.  Went to bed to rest after I got a good dose of hugs and kisses from Elijah.  Going up the stairs was not bad - does not hurt, just have to be careful b/c the medication makes me not quite as steady as normal.  Got a visit from my friend, Sam.  We went out to dinner to a pizza place around the corner from my house.  Don't know if if's the drugs, but everything tastes pretty good.  Maybe it's from going without food for so long.  Still couldn't eat much though, which was fine by me.  Went home and watched some television.  Started itching, especially under the binder, I think b/c of the drugs.  Decided I'd break up my next dosage into halves.  Christian went up to bed, and I opted to stay on the couch.  When I tried to get up to go to bed, the left drain was causing me so much pain with every step, I started crying.  I had to apply pressure with my hand to get up the stairs.  I woke Christian up, and he helped me get in bed and got me my pain pills.  I was pretty scared.  Note to self:  don't get left behind downstairs.  Slept pretty much rest of night.

Been waking up at about 4 a.m. the last couple mornings, so I watch tv or journal, then go back to sleep.

Christian woke me up at nine a.m. today.  Guess he thought I was sleeping late.  I told him I was up from 4 to 6 a.m. though.  Got up, ate a small bowl of cereal, drank a cup of coffee, took a shower.  That was enough activity for me.  My back has been hurting so the hot shower felt good.  It also felt good to take off the girdle.  I have not had a bowel movement since the day before my surgery!!  Have been taking Senokot.  Took one the first day, two the second and third, and four today.  I don't know if this is why my back hurts or if its the binder or what.  I could see that a clot was clogging the little downspout in the bulb, which was slowing down my drains, contributing to my pain.  I emptied the bulb and filled it with warm water and shook it vigorously until the clot came out.  It started to flow better.  Between my back and the left drain hurting, I decided to go back to bed and put on a movie.  About half-way through it, I turned it off and went to sleep.  Slept for an hour or so, then got up and had some lunch. Got dressed, and my dad came to pick me and Elijah up to go to the zoo.  It was a gorgeous day, and I just wanted to be outside.  We rented a wheelchair for $6 (a bargain), so I wouldn't have to walk everywhere.  My dad wheeled me from exhibit to exhibit, and I would get up to look.  Occasionally I would use the wheelchair as a walker to get around.  We were there for three to four hours.  We had a great time and got to see the new tiger cubs - my favorite part.  Finally had to leave b/c my pain pill kicked in and made me so sleepy.  Went home and went to bed for an hour and a half.  Christian came in a couple times to ask me about dinner.  I got up at seven and ate.  The left drain is causing me pain again.  I can't wait to get these out!!  My fluid looks good though.  Another busy day.
