Fifth grade teacher Alois Boisen set a bored and restless Stormy in front of a vase of daffodils and handed her a tray of tempera paints.
Mrs. Boisen said, "You can make light yellow by mixing yellow and white." Stormy spent most of the afternoon playing with tints of yellow.
Peggy Felsenthal taught Stormy all through junior high. When it was time for high school, she said, "Why don't you major in art?"
So Stormy went on to learn how to mix color in paints, pastels, pigments and pixels.
